A

ccessorize your blog.

The wonderfully chic dropcaps featured at the beginning of each post were created by illustrator Jessica Hische, as part of her Daily Drop Cap project for "the beautification of blogs everywhere."

The 12 letter set project is nearing completion, and the site was reorganized in January 2011, making it a breeze to find each letter. Instructions below have been updated accordingly.

To use these gorgeous letters:

1. Go to the Daily Drop Cap site.

2. For a specific letter, click on the letter links to the right.

3. Instructions for getting the caps into your blog accompany each letter. In "html" mode, copy and paste the dropcap link text into your blog. If a "#" shows up after pasting, delete it.

4. If your blog does not have a white background (like mine), it's helpful to do a small html edit, which will create space between the letter image & your text:

> insert "hspace=10" after "align=left"

> will look something like this:
img src="http://jhische.com/dailydropcap/Z-7-cap.png" title="Daily Drop Cap by Jessica Hische" align="left" hspace=10 alt="Z"/

> 10 stands for 10 pixels, you can try out different numbers to your liking.

5. Acknowledge the creator. Thank you Jessica Hische!
