  2. Hot glue gun & glue sticks (Michael's)
  3. Scissors
  4. Button
  5. String or thread
  6. Velcro sticky back coins (Michael's)
Velcro info: 75 for $6.99 (or 9¢ each) @ Amazon, HERE.

Note: items without listed price were not purchased for this project.

Total cost: 40¢ per 4x6" envelope
(less if you buy felt on sale)
(less if you make smaller sized envelopes)

Protocol
Step 1.  Felt Cutting
- Use scissors to cut felt to size,
as shown in the picture below
- Dotted line dimensions: 4" height, 6" width
- Rectangular area dimensions: 8" height, 6" width
- Triangular area dimensions: 2.5" height, 6" width

Envelope in the Making
- Tip: if planning to make more than one envelope,
make a paper template of the desired size
  & trace onto felt.
-----
Step 2. Gluing
- Use scissors to cut bottom corners of felt,
as shown in the picture below.
- Use hot glue gun to apply hot glue to felt,
as shown in the picture below.

Cut & Glue
- Fold cut felt edge upwards, folding rectangle in half.
  (shown in picture below)
- Press down on glued edges for a few seconds.
-----
Step 3. Velcro Closure
- Use scissors to cut velcro backing, shown below.

Velcro coins, cut to size

- Stick two pieces of velcro together.
- Remove one side of paper backing.
  This exposes sticky side.
- Attach sticky side to top of triangle.
(this is the inside of the envelope flap)
- Remove other side of paper backing.
This exposes the other sticky side.
- Close the envelope flap & press down firmly.
This will stick velcro to body of envelope.

Velcro Envelope Closure
-----
Step 4. Faux Stitched Button
- Feed string (or thread or yarn) through button holes,
as you would if sewing a button.

Adding "Stitches" to Button

- Tie two ends of thread at the back of button.
- Use scissors to cut off extra thread.
- Use hot glue to attach button to front of
  envelope flap.
